Project Details

The Bannatyne MS [Adv. MS. 1.1.6], c. 1568, is the largest existing collection of late medieval Scottish verse. To date the manuscript has been accessible in limited print edition and facsimile only, however the recent acquisition of NLS images by the Project Europeana at the IIIF has opened up new technological possibilities.

The Challenge

The challenge was to design a responsive website that is both functionally able to store and view hundreds of XML poems, as well as being user friendly and attractive.

Project Outcome

A clean layout, simple colour scheme, bold images, with a traditional serif typeface to create a modern looking user experience with an academic feel.
